Dear Parishioners:
When I first began considering the priesthood, our bishop gave me some advice. He said, “put your vocation in Our Lady’s hands and she will take care of you.” I still believe that’s good advice and I still follow it. Every time I had an important meeting in seminary, I would say a Hail Mary before it began. Before every difficult conversation and obstacle, I did the same. I’ve always gone to Jesus in prayer too, but I make sure I remember to ask Mary to pray for my needs too.
All of us should turn to Mary daily for help. It’s enough to simply say a Hail Mary at the start of the day or before an important activity or in a time of need just like I did in the seminary. It is good to also pray our rosary often and meditate on the life of Jesus with her.
We are her spiritual children, and she is happy to help us. As I write this now, I am asking Mary to adopt our parish and pray for us.
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
