Dear Sacred Heart Family

I wish to extend a warm Father’s Day blessing to all our fathers in our Sacred Heart parish family. It is our hope that this day you know our heavenly Father’s hand guiding you and your families in the path of His Son. For those of us whose Fathers have entered God’s heavenly realm, may you be inspired by the good that they did and live the best of their example in your life.

We know that on our Mother’s Day we had a huge luncheon for our mothers, thanks to the Knights of Columbus and are sad that will do not have the same for our fathers today. We would like to consider our celebration of the Sacred Heart this Friday as an opportunity to share a meal with your fathers here at the parish. Since we have not had a celebration for our Feast Day in a few years, I would like to share how this year’s celebration will take place.

We will gather in the church at 630pm for a bilingual Mass this Friday for a simple but beautiful liturgy. Our mass will not be as short as our weekday mass (25 minutes) but will be shorter than our Sunday masses, I estimate about 40-45 minutes as we will have some music for the celebration. At the end of our celebration, we will all process out to our shrine of the Sacred Heart at the entrance of the church where we will offer a special prayer of consecration to His most Sacred Heart. If anyone would like to stay to pray the rosary, they are free to do so, but our plans are to then proceed to the parish hall for our Parish barbecue.

The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, chips, ice pops or ice cream. We will have the fixings (tomato, lettuce, cheese, jalapenos, or bacon for the burgers, and mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, and relish for the hot dogs). For the quesadillas, there will be salsa and jalapenos. We will offer lemonade, water, coffee, and iced tea for beverages. We are asking for a donation of $10 per adult, who may receive any 2 main items (ie hamburger & hot dog, hot dog & quesadilla, or a double burger) chips, drink , and one dessert. And children 5-12 will receive one main item (hamburger, hot dog, or quesadilla), chips, drink, and 1 dessert for $5. And children under 5 are free. Families of 4 or more will be $30, and families of 6 or more $40.

All proceeds will go to the purchase of 2 new round tables (sxt value $425 each) for our parish hall, as many of the older ones were rolled on their sides which broke the lips of the tables.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful day of the Sacred Heart with you and your families.

With a heart for Mission,
Fr. Ray
