Dear Parishioners,

Very soon you may notice construction work being done on the house across the street to the south of our church. The house is the rectory that belongs to the parish. Over the years, the house has had small repairs and fixtures installed to make do, but it has not had a significant update in decades. The work to be done will help the house last many decades to come. Walls and flooring will be updated, new appliances and bathroom fixtures, upstairs floorplan to be redesigned, new heating and A/C, new windows, and some exterior work to the house. To simplify the project and get it done sooner, we’ve hired a contractor to oversee the interior work, and have signed bids for the windows as well as for heating and A/C.

Not surprisingly, this project will be expensive. However, we were able to start because of the generosity of the diocese. They have offered to take the largest single bid of $119,500 for contracting out the interior work. That leaves $37,300 for the windows, heating and A/C. Additional costs for exterior work, furniture and appliances will also fall to the parish. This work would not be possible without the Diocese’s contribution, so it’s a reminder of how important the DDF is each year to supporting parishes like ours. Be sure to thank the bishop when you see him for seeing this need and helping you give your priest a good home.

When it comes to the parish’s costs for the house, it is the finance council’s hope that we might raise the money. If you would like to contribute specifically toward the windows ($18,000) or the heating and A/C ($19,300), please call the parish office and we will follow up with you. You could also contribute towards new furniture and appliances or the exterior work. Finally, if you have expertise in exterior painting or have someone to recommend, we will be fixing some aluminum siding, painting it, and painting the front porch as well. We’re still looking for someone to do that work. The finance council includes Steve Bishop, Laura Kresta, and Scott Buckman assisted by Kathy Krudwig. Please feel free to talk with them about this important parish project.
